ABOUT US

The first and only one of its kind in the Swiss Romande, the Société Frédéric Chopin Genève was created in 1997 by its current president Mrs Aldona Budrewicz-Jacobson. The aim of the Society is to promote, to the widest extent possible, the appreciation and understanding of the great Polish composer’s music.

With over 150 members, our Society is now an integral part of the Geneva and Swiss Romande cultural life. The Chopin Festival which takes place always around 2nd or 3rd week of November has grown to become a “must” on the Swiss musical scene.

In the same time, the Société Frédéric Chopin Genève is not just a yearly festival. It is also:

  • A Masterclass, where numerous pianists of all nationalities come to perfect their Chopin interpretation skills under the experienced eye of confirmed prestigious concerts pianists.
  • A concert at the start of the musical season, normally at the beginning of March, to celebrate the birth of the illustrious Polish musician.
  • Discovery voyages to composer’s native country, Poland, which follow “Frederic Chopin Polish trail” and include a number of concerts.
  • The Geneva Chopin Prize awarded by the International Warsaw Fryderyk Chopin Competition to, under some conditions, a Swiss or European pianist.

If, like us, you are among the numerous admirers of Chopin’s music and wish to support Society’s cultural aims, please don’t hesitate to join us!

It is precisely support of our faithful members that allows us to continue offering such high level of musical enjoyment. To all of you, many greatful thanks!

We will of course be present at each concert of the next Chopin Festival to answer any questions you may have – or, better still, why not contact us right now?
